  • Helensburgh Lions Club was chartered in April of this year.
  • Lions International President, Claude De Vorss, visited club.
  • Hospital Bus Service began to Vale of Leven and Camis Eskan hospitals.

1966

  • Lion Mcleod Williamson, received the Lions International Humanitarian award.

1967

  • The first Carnival and Donkey Derby were held in East King Street park.

1968

  • Lions sponsored Miss Dunbartonshire contest was held at the swimming pool.

1969

  • The first Lion, Neil Armstrong, landed on the moon.

1970

  • Dumbarton and Stirling Lions Clubs chartered with Helensburgh as mother club.

1973

  • Joint project with Rotary to purchase Foetal Monitor for maternity hospital.

1976

  • Lions Youth Award program begins.

1983

  • First Corries concert for Lions Funds.

1985

  • District 105NE Convention held in Normandy Hotel, Renfrew, with Helensburgh as co-hosts.

1987

  • Lions Caravan installed at Heads of Ayr to provide holidays for local people.

1988

  • TV donated to Beatson Oncology Unit in Western Infirmaty.

1990

  • £3300 donated to Yorkhill Hospital for Sick Children, proceeds from Duck Race.

1991

  • Donation of £3500 to hermitage Academy for ‘Skills for Adolescents’ material.

1992

  • Annual Golf Days begin at Helensburgh Golf Club.
  • Raft Race held for ‘Journey for Sight’, £1600 raised.

1993

  • £2000 donated to Lions International ‘Sight First’ campaign.

1996

  • £500 donated to John Logie Baird school for library reference books.
  • Challenger Trimaran donated to Helensburgh Challenge Group for disabled sailing.

1997

  • Rest room facilitiess, including TV/Video, provided to Helensburgh Ambulance station.
  • Specially adapted tricycle donated to Parklands School.

2000

  • Map of towns historical buildings given to all local schoolchildren as Millenium Project.
  • Computer donated to John Logie Baird school Special Needs Lab.

2002

  • Membership has reached its highest level in recent years , and is now a total 19.
  • Plinth presented to Victoria Infirmary Physiotherapy department
  • 6 members and wives/partners attended the District 105NE Convention in Oban.

2003

  • Membership continues to grow to 22
  • Funding (£7,500) provided to Skateboard Association for skate-board equipment in the Hermitage Park.
  • Annual Senior Citizen Dinners started
  • First Easter Egg raffle took place

2004

  • A new 12 seat mini-bus was purchased.
     

2005

  • Hospital Mini Bus Service discontinued due to changes in Health Service arrangements leading to lack of passengers. Bus switched to community use.
  • £3000 donated to Childrens Hospice in Balloch for garden furniture
  • £500 donate to Route 81 youth group in Garelochhead
     

2006

  •  Youth Award of £500 shared by 2 local recipients
     

2007

  • Club awarded £500 by Royal and Sun Alliance Community Awards scheme
  • Golf Day raised a record amount of £3520
     

2008

  • First Race Night held with new LCD projector
